Create news and a changelog

This page explains how to make a page that lists dated articles, such as feature announcements, release notes and maintenance notices.

"News" on the public site. Below the description are the filter buttons "All", "Release" and "News", and the articles are listed newest first: "Oct 27, 2026 Release: You can now set a header title", "Oct 20, 2026 News: Maintenance notice (November 5)" and "Oct 10, 2026 Release: Custom domains are now supported".

An example of news on the public site. Readers can filter the articles with the category buttons.

How it works

News is made by combining the following three things.

  • List page: A page such as "News". Place a "Page list" block in its content to list the articles.
  • Article pages: Child pages of the list page. Give each a date, and set a category and cover image if needed. They are not shown in the page tree on the left of the public site; readers open them from the list.
  • Categories: Groups for articles, such as "Release" and "News". Readers can filter the list by them (optional).

  A --> C["Article 2026/10/20
Category: News"]
  A --> D["Article 2026/10/10
Category: Release"]

Articles are shown in the order of the page list. If you add new articles at the top, they are listed newest first.

Create categories

To group articles by category, create the categories first. If you do not use categories, skip this step.

  1. Open the project settings and choose "Categories" in the menu on the left. Open the project settings with the gear button in the editor's top bar, or with "Project settings" on the dashboard.
  2. Click "Add category" and enter the category name (up to 30 characters).
  3. Add as many as you need, reorder them with the arrow buttons, and click "Save".
"Categories" in the project settings (Applies on publish). There are fields for two categories, "Release" and "News", buttons to reorder and delete them, and the "Add category" and "Save" buttons.
  • You can create up to 50 categories per project. They are shown in the page list filter in the order you arrange them.
  • If you delete a category, articles that had it selected have no category.
  • Categories take effect when you publish. Category names can be translated for each language (Publish in multiple languages).

Create the list page

  1. In the editor's page list, click "+" on the page that should be the parent (such as the top page), and create a page with a title such as "News".
  2. Type "/" on an empty line of the content and add a "Page list" block.
  3. Choose how to list the pages with the options above the block.
The "Page list" block in the editor. Above it are "This page" (pages to list), "List" (layout), "All categories" (category to show), the "Filter by category" checkbox (on) and "All" (number of pages). Below are the filter buttons "All", "Release" and "News", and three articles, each with a date, category and title.
OptionDescription
Pages to listThe page whose child pages are listed. With "This page", the child pages of the page containing the block are listed.
LayoutChoose "List" (date, category and title on one line each) or "Grid" (cards with cover images).
Category to showLists only the articles of a specific category. With "All categories", all articles are listed.
Filter by categoryWhen on, category buttons are shown above the list so readers can filter it. Not shown when a "Category to show" is chosen.
Number of pagesChoose from "3 pages", "5 pages", "10 pages", "20 pages" and "All".
PaginateWhen on, the list is split into pages of the chosen number of pages, and readers switch between them by page number. Not available with "All".

Add an article

  1. In the page list, hover over the list page and click "+".
  2. In "Add page", enter the title, choose "Add at the top" and click "Create". The new article is placed at the top.
  3. Write the content. Start with what changed and who it affects, then give the details. This makes it easier for readers to follow.
  4. In the page settings on the right, set the following.
    • "Date" in "Date and category": The date of the article. It is shown above the content and in page lists.
    • "Category" in "Date and category": Choose one if you have created categories.
    • "Hide from the page tree" in "Visibility": When on, the page is not shown in the page tree on the left of the public site or in previous/next links. Recommended when there are many articles. It is still shown in page lists, search and the AI chat.
    • "Cover image" in "Search & sharing": Used as the card image in the grid layout and as the image when shared on social media (optional).
  5. Publish the project.
The date does not change the order

Articles are shown in the order of the page list. If you later add an article with a past date, drag it to the right position in the page list.

Show the latest news on the top page

You can also show the latest articles on other pages, such as the top page.

  1. Add a "Page list" block to the content of the page where you want to show them.
  2. In "Pages to list", choose the list page (such as "News").
  3. In "Number of pages", choose "3 pages" or another number.

A link to the list page is shown below the list.

How the AI chat handles articles

The AI chat on the public site treats dated pages as articles. For questions such as "What was updated recently?" or "What was released last month?", it reads the articles newest first to answer. It may also narrow its answer by category name (for example "Release").

  • How the service works now: An article is a record of that day. When the way the service works changes, update the pages that explain it as well as writing an article. The AI chat gives priority to the content of undated pages in its answers.
  • Old articles: Instead of deleting an outdated article, turn on "Exclude from the AI chat" in "Visibility" of the page settings. It stays on the public site but is no longer used in AI chat answers.

Create articles with MCP

From an AI tool connected through MCP integration, you can add an article at the top with its date, category and the hide-from-page-tree setting. You can also change the list of categories through MCP. Articles are saved to the working content, so check them before publishing.
